About Healix

We know, we know. It sounds like we're just another health platform, but hear us out. We are different because of the brilliant minds that we are backed by.
Healix was born out of
North America's First Fully Digital Hospital.

A Platform for Rapid Innovation

In response to COVID-19, Humber River Hospital (HRH) needed a platform to remotely monitor patients and support them virtually. With new information rapidly coming in,  HRH soon realized that they needed a digital health platform that would allow them to build apps and modify them within days instead of years. With new information coming in, protocols changing rapidly, new community and patient education available daily, HRH had to think outside the box.

In order to better serve their northwest Greater Toronto Area community of more than 850,000 residents, HRH has built Healix, a digital health platform, as the infrastructure required to bring healthcare of the future into the NOW. They have a firm belief that the future of healthcare has no walls and no barriers.

Healix combines real-time data, early warning systems, AI and predictive analytics in order to alert staff of unfavourable changes to a patient's health status and flag potential risks. This allows clinicians to intervene earlier and to support higher clinician-to-patient ratios compared to the typical ratios of 1 clinician to between 20-50 patients. By intervening early, this significantly reduces the patient's need for emergency care, helping improve the patient's outcome and quality of life.

Healix supports clinicians, patients and their families with as much support needed for seamless, engaging  and high reliability care... almost like a trusted security blanket for your health.

Humber River Hospital

Humber River Hospital (HRH) is North America's first fully digital hospital, one of Canada's largest acute care hospitals and has one of Ontario's busiest Emergency Departments. HRH is recognized globally for its leadership, excellence and innovation in patient care.

They are the 2nd in the world to launch GE Healthcare's futuristic Command Center, styled like NASA's Mission Control room, which uses AI and predictive analytics to warn clinical staff of possible patient deterioration within the hospital to allow for early intervention. This acts as a safety net for the hospital, helping keep everyone safe and no patient left behind. Fueled by their trailblazing spirit, HRH has been able to treat more patients, in less time, and with better outcomes using thorough healthcare innovation. Due to its massive success, reductions in operating costs and optimizations in care since 2015, HRH is planning on extending the GE Command Center's abilities to outside the hospital using Healix.

Here's where HRH's devotion lies:

  • Patient-centric care, so patients and their families feel more positive and less anxious
  • Cutting-edge technology that enhances patient care and outcomes
  • Great minds and expertise that make technology do great things
  • Diverse community that deserves exemplary and accessible hospital care
  • Investing in tomorrow, because reinventing patient care is as much about the next innovation as it is about the current one

Here are some of HRH's greatest achievements:

Top

ER patient volumes in Greater Toronto Area. An impressive 133,000 patients seen per year, thanks to staff and innovative tech.

2nd

in the world to launch GE Healthcare's futuristic Command Center, like NASA's Mission Control room, which uses AI.

75%

reduction in Emergency Room wait times. Patients arriving by ambulance receive care from 20 to 90 minutes on average.

75%

of back-office functions are automated, such as pharmacy, laundry, food and supplies delivery.

80%

of in-patient rooms are single occupancy rooms. Thanks to the Command Center, there is no "hallway medicine" at HRH.

41%

decrease for in-patient Code Blues when comparing data prior to and after the introduction of the Command Center.

What Gartner is Saying

According to Gartner, "Digital health platforms are becoming a critical element in delivering coordinated care to patients, as they enable the collection and analysis of data from a wide range of sources. Healthcare delivery organizations that adopt digital health platforms will benefit from improved

improved patient outcomes, increased patient engagement, and a more efficient healthcare delivery process. Digital health platforms enable healthcare organizations to break down silos and collaborate across departments, specialties, and care settings. These platforms leverage data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to drive insights that can inform care decisions, improve operational efficiencies, and reduce costs."

In Gartner's 2022 Industry Cloud Survey, they found that:

40%

of IT leaders say they have started to adopt industry cloud platforms

15%

of IT leaders say they are in pilots with industry cloud platforms

15%

of IT leaders say they are considering deployment by 2026

In two 2022 reports, Market Guide for Digital Health Platform and Competitive Landscape: Digital Health Platforms, Gartner says:

"Adoption of digital health platforms puts the organization on a path to faster value realization when responding to strategic imperatives and external uncertainties."

"...an increasing number of vendors recognize healthcare provider technology needs and are creating platforms that combine underlying cloud services to offer compelling capabilities that are aligned with digital health platform (DHP) architectural principles."

"The digital health platform now represents the preferred approach for many healthcare providers to advance clinical and business digital transformation."

"It is a technically efficient way to scale new digital capabilities, exceeding the capabilities provided by today's monolithic application suites."
